CEREC Single-Visit Crowns, Bridges, Inlays, and Onlays

Traditionally, getting restorative work such as crowns or bridges requires at least two visits to the dentist’s office. The first visit is for impressions of your teeth and the second visit is for fitting the restoration when it returns from the dental lab.

With CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic), you can get your restorations completed in a single visit. CEREC uses computer-assisted design and computer-aided manufacturing to create your restorations while you wait.

An intraoral scanning device called Primescan is used to take a high-resolution picture of the inside of your mouth and then the CEREC machine creates your custom restoration in 4-12 minutes.

Air Abrasion Image

Air Abrasion

Air abrasion is a modern, drill-less method of filling small cavities and removing some stains and discoloration. Instead of a drill, the air abrasion machine uses air and aluminum oxide particles to gently wear away the cavity, similar to the way a sandblaster works, only much gentler of course.

A rubber dam protects the rest of your teeth during the procedure, which is so gentle most people do not need anesthesia. Air abrasion treatment is both more gentle and quieter than the traditional drill. While air abrasion will not work on every cavity, it is a great option for smaller cavities, and we are proud to offer it at Dentist of Bixby Knolls.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays use digital sensors to take x-rays of your teeth and jaw that have much higher resolution than traditional x-rays and use less radiation. These x-rays can be altered and enhanced using computer programs to help your doctor get a better view of sections of your mouth that would not be visible in traditional x-rays.

In addition, digital x-rays are more environmentally friendly and more portable than x-rays taken on film.

Dental Surgical Stents Image

Dental Surgical Stents

A dental surgical stent is a device used to help place dental implants into your jawbone. It is an acrylic stent with pre-drilled holes created using an impression of your mouth. The holes indicate the ideal locations for the implant posts.

Your surgeon then uses these holes to put the implant posts into their ideal position in your jaw. Putting the implant posts into your jaw in the best position helps ensure they will integrate properly with the bone and function well when the implant is added.

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

If you need orthodontic treatment, you have a new choice other than traditional metal or porcelain ceramic braces. We are happy to offer Invisalign® clear aligners as an option to the patients in our Bixby Knolls office.

Rather than metal wires and brackets, treatment with Invisalign® uses custom-made clear acrylic trays to gently guide your teeth into the proper position. They are not only more comfortable than traditional braces, but they are also removable, so you can take them out to eat and drink. This means you will not have any dietary restrictions during your orthodontic treatment.

The clear acrylic used to make Invisalign® aligners also means they are nearly invisible, so you will be able to straighten your smile without anyone being the wiser. Invisalign® treatment is available for both adults and teenagers.
